As St Benedictís College, our Alma Mater, notches the historic 150th anniversary of its birth, the Sydney Bens join in the celebration of the sesquicentenary of excellence in Benedictine education imparted by the De La Salle Brothers with EVERGREEN, The Dinner Dance, on Saturday, 22 August 2015 here in Sydney.
The Sydney Bens are privileged to contribute to the wonderful achievements of College, the oldest Catholic educational institution in Sri Lanka and invite all Old Bens to join us at this momentous function.
While a great time is assured to all our guests, The Dinner Dance is not merely an occasion for us to eat, drink and be merry. We have made this an important fund-raising event. All profits will be directed towards our major and on-going program which started almost a decade ago, with a commitment to assist 40 students to continue their studies in College until they reach University Entrance level. 21 of these students have now completed. We will maintain our commitment and assist the balance 19 students until the end. We envisage a continuance of this assistance, even in a smaller scale, in the future. What has always been the firm belief of the Sydney Bens is that the only way to support our Alma Mater is by assisting current students to achieve excellence by providing some financial assistance towards their education. Just the way we Old Bens, now residing in Sri Lanka and in all parts of the globe, received the finest education, taught discipline and facilitated to attain sporting prowess for the last 150 years.
That is the reason for EVERGREEN, The Dinner Dance. So we invite each and every Sydney Ben and other Old Bens from near and far, to come around íneath the Green White and Green flag in Sydney and pay tribute to our Alma Mater as we celebrate this once in a lifetime anniversary of our beloved College.
