Benedictine Exhibition "CUBE"
|Rev. Bro. Granville Perera, Director of St. Benedict's College addressing a media briefing held on 6th September 2011, to announce the event said ‘Organized with the objective of helping students transform theoretical knowledge into day to day empirical realities, the event will be held at the St. Benedict's College premises on 15th, 16th and 17th September 2011, from 9.00am to 9.30pm and will showcase the creative abilities and sprouting potentialities of the students’. He added ‘the student’s efforts will be backed up by guidance and expertise of reputed institutions, Organizations and Government bodies such as the Central Bank, Archaeological Department, Medical faculty of the University of Kelaniya, The Zoological section of the Ministry of Health, NARA, Sri Lanka Telecom, The Army, The Navy, The Air Force, to name a few’.|
Innovation plus, plus! The event will also see the introduction and launching of a generator, and a display of modules of vehicles all powered by Water and fuel, by construction trade award winner 1990 and Electrical Olympic gold medallist, Mr. W. A. Keerthi R. De Silva (Founder and patent of Water Fuel System). The Chairman of the Organizing Committee Mr. Tony Ganlath revealed that ‘Unique exhibits, such as "Money Museum" by Central Bank of Sri Lanka, modules of Harbour, Highways, Bridges by Road Development Authority and stalls designed especially for School exhibits by the Sri Lanka Army, Navy and Air Force will be on display are expected to be crowd pullers‘.
During the media briefing Mr. Sunesh Rodrigo, a member of the organizing committee and a journalist himself, declared the renaming of the St. Benedict’s College media unit as the ‘Lasantha Wicrematunge Media Unit’, in the memory of the veteran journalist and loyal old Ben. The official letter in this regard was handed over to Mr. Lal Wickrematunge, brother of late Lasantha Wickrematunge, by Rev. Bro. Granville Perera, Director of St. Benedict's College.
Wrapping up, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee Mr. Tony Ganlath announced a musical evening organized at the college quadrangle on the final day of the exhibition, Saturday the 17th of September, from 7 pm onwards, featuring popular old Benedictine bands, ‘Mirage’ with Donald and Benjy and ‘Rebels’.
The organisers call on all Benedictines, both young and old, their families and well wishers to receive and share the knowledge not forgetting to have some pure fun, the Benedictine way.
So, keep the date free and come enjoy the evening with your families and meet your good old friends in the Benedictine spirit.

A limited number of tickets are available priced at Rs. 500/- per head for the “Benedictine splash” musical evening on the final day being the 17th of September 2011
