Sacerdotal Ordination of fifteen Priests from the Archdiocese of Colombo

The Archdiocese of Colombo was blessed with fifteen newly ordained priests at the Sacerdotal Ordination that took place at St. Lucia’s Cathedral, Colombo on Saturday, April 29th. Holy mass was presided by the Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith.
Rev. Fr. Don Rajitha Liyanage - Another Priest from the Benedictine family, was amongst the fifteen priests ordained
A parish son of St. Mary’s Church, Nayakakanda, Rev. Fr. Don Rajitha Liyanage Is the son of Mr. Don Richard Liyanage and Mrs. Nimmi Geraldene Liyanage. Born on August 25, 1988, he was educated at St. Benedict’s College, Colombo, joined St. Aloysius Minor Seminary, Borella on January 19, 2003, and thereafter at the Intermediate Seminary, Kalutara in 2009.
In 2010, he joined St. Francis Xavier Seminary in Collumbuthurai, Jaffna, and in 2012, entered the National Seminary, Ampitiya, Kandy. Rev. Fr. Don Rajitha who was ordained a deacon on December 10, 2016 by His Lordship, Rt. Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Fernando, Auxiliary Bishop of Colombo, served as deacon at St. Sebastian’s Shrine, Kandana and before obtaining his diaconate he served at St. Mary’s Church, Grand Street, Negombo. He celebrated his first Holy Mass on Sunday, April 30 at St. Mary’s Church, Nayakakanda.
Pope Francis has called this vocation to the ordained ministry a “Treasure hidden in a field”, and the entire Christian Community too is called to care for this treasury of vocations and to promote and accompany them with affection.
On behalf of the entire Benedictine fraternity, we wish Rev. Fr. Don Rajitha Liyanage, good luck and God’s blessings in abundance in his new assignment, serving in the vineyard of the Almighty.
