Doctorate for Old Benedictine Ravindra Randeniya
OBU, Colombo
Veteran actor, former Parliamentarian and Presidential Advisor on Cinema Ravindra Randeniya was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate in Philosophy by the University of the Visual and Performing Arts of Sri Lanka in recognition of his distinguished service in the drama and cinematic fields during the past four decades.

Ravindra, a past pupil of St. Benedict’s College, rose to fame in Lester James Peries' film Desa Nisa in 1972 and was a popular actor during the 1970s and 1980s.

He won the Sarasaviya Best Actor Award in 1984 (Dadayama), 1985 (Maya), 1989 (Sandakada Pahana) and 1990 (Siri Medura).

Our heartfelt congratulations to Ravindra on his unique achievement which has brought honour to our Alma mater.
