Bens register first win in the Under 19 Limited Over Cricket Tournament
SportThulina Dilshan's five wicket haul (5 for 29) restricted St. Anthony's College Wattala to a mere 90 runs and enabled St. Benedict's College to record an easy 10 wicket victory in their Singer inter-schools under 19 limited over (1st Round) cricket match played at Kotahena yesterday. (18th March)

St. Anthony's College : 90 in 40.4 overs (Shiran Ratnayake 2/9, Ruvinda Niwunhella 2/6, Thulina Dilshan 5/29)

St. Benedict's College : 93 for no loss in 9.2 overs (Mahel Jayalath 38 n.o., Thulina Dilshan 38 n.o.)

However, Bens who were runners-up last year, lost their first tournament match to defending champions St. Peter’s College by 55 runs, played at Bloomfield Grounds on 17th March.

St. Peters College: 247 (49.5) Shiran Rathnayake 2 for 36

St. Benedicts College: 192 (43.3) Mahel Jayalath 65, Shiran Rathnayake 44

The Benedictines will play their final match in the 1st round against De La Salle College, Mutwal at Kotahena tomorrow, (20th March) and will have to win this match with a superior net run rate if they are to qualify into the knockout stage.
