Benedictines fall short at the finish line – lose to Joes by four Runs
|Madura Madusanka hit a half century (60) for St. Benedict's College but were four-runs short of target in the pre-quarter final match of the Kotmale Chox inter-schools T20 cricket tournament worked off at Darley Road yesterday. (4th April)|
Joes put into bat first, lost quick wickets and were badly placed on 35 for 5 in 6 overs, but recovered to make 135 for 9 in 20 overs. In reply, Bens chasing their target also lost early wickets and we 31 for 3 in 5 overs. In spite of a valiant effort by Madura Madusanka who cracked a fine half century inclusive of seven hits to the ropes and two over it in 42 deliveries, Bens fell short of the target by four runs in a keenly contested encounter.
St. Joseph’s: 135 for 9 in 20 Overs (Sameera Sandamal 3 for 20)
St. Benedict’s: 131 for 9 in 20 overs (Madura Madusanka 60, Mahel Jayalath 16)
