Obituary - Death of former Bens cricket captain - Rohan Wanaguru
ObituaryThe death occurred of former Benedictine cricket captain Rohan Wanaguru on Thursday, 16th August 2012. Late Wanaguru captained the college first XI cricket team in 1975. He was a good all rounder and a hard hitting right hand batsman and a wily left arm spinner. He began his career under the captaincy of Johnny Martin and after being vice captain to Basil Perera in 1974 he led the school in the following year.

Some of his team mates were Malcom Mack, the Perera brothers Lalith and Sarath, Wasantha Meegoda, Rohan Dias, Chandana Rodrigo and N.Ravichandran.

After leaving college, he represented Saracens Sports Club in the Div one Tournaments. When the College was looking for a coach, he volunteered and coached the college team at Cricket.

Wanaguru was 55 at the time of his death. Funeral took place on Sunday 19th August 2012 at the General Cemetery, Borella
