Fine double by Skipper Jason in drawn game against Thomians
SportBenedictine skipper Jason Perera gave a fine all round display when he struck a fluent 53 in the second innings and had a match bag of 7 for 52 in their drawn under 19 inter-school cricket encounter against St. Thomas College played at Mount-Lavinia last weekend. (6th & 7th January)

Bens batting first on a wet wicket due to overnight rain were restricted to 136 in 60.2 overs with opening batsman Jason Perera scoring 21, Abdul Manaz scoring 29 runs, Dilan Anjelo making 26 runs and Sachin Peiris 19 not out. Thomians in reply were reeling at 64 for 5 when rain interrupted the first day's play and were ultimately all out for 148. Sachin Peiris (5 for 44) and Jason Perera (4 for 42) had the impressive bowling figures for the Benedictines.

St. Benedict's in their second innings declared at 197 for 8 with skipper Jason Perera continuing his batting form scoring an elegant 53. St. Thomas in reply were 29 for 4 wickets when the match was called off due to bad light.

The Benedictine's next encounter will be a tournament match on 13th and 14th January against Maliyadeva College Kurunegala.
