Bens beat Wesleyites by 7 wickets
|St. Benedict’s College registered their second consecutive win, beating Wesley College convincingly by seven wickets in their first XI inter school cricket match concluded at Kotahena today. (19th Nov)|
Batting first, the Benedictines amassed 258 for 9 before declaring with Arjuna Perera top scoring with 78. In reply, reeling at 67 for 5 overnight, Wesleyites were bundled out for a modest 112 runs, with right arm medium pacer Sachin Peries claiming 4 for 38 and skipper Jason Perera grabbing 3 for 36 doing the damage for the Bens. Force to follow-on, Wesleyites did well to reach 100 for 1 but soon after, collapsed to be all out for 184, which left the Benedictines s a target of 39 runs which they reached for the loss of 3 wickets in 5.5 overs.
