Bens beat Wesleyites by 7 wickets
SportSt. Benedict’s College registered their second consecutive win, beating Wesley College convincingly by seven wickets in their first XI inter school cricket match concluded at Kotahena today. (19th Nov)

Batting first, the Benedictines amassed 258 for 9 before declaring with Arjuna Perera top scoring with 78. In reply, reeling at 67 for 5 overnight, Wesleyites were bundled out for a modest 112 runs, with right arm medium pacer Sachin Peries claiming 4 for 38 and skipper Jason Perera grabbing 3 for 36 doing the damage for the Bens. Force to follow-on, Wesleyites did well to reach 100 for 1 but soon after, collapsed to be all out for 184, which left the Benedictines s a target of 39 runs which they reached for the loss of 3 wickets in 5.5 overs.

St. Benedict’s: 258 for 9 Dec, (Arjuna Perera 78, Sameera Sandamal 30, Sachin Peries 23, Madhura Madushanka 18, Abdul Manes 18 not out)
And 39 for 3 in 5.5 overs (Sameera Sandamal 22 not out)

Wesley: 112 All Out in 34.2 Overs ( Sachin Peries 4/38, Jason Perera 3/36, Dillon Angelo 2/13
and Jason Perera 2/08)
And 184 All-out in 51 overs (Sachin Peries 2/30, Jason Perera 3/42, Dillon Angelo 2/21 and Yohan Soysa 3/59
